Three Goal Lead Revisited: After Nashville raced out to a 3-0 lead in the first period on Tuesday, there were many tweets about the “dreaded 3 goal lead”.

As was established over the summer, almost 90 percent of all 3-goal leads are maintained league-wide.

Nashville has had 7 3-goal leads this season. They have given up exactly zero of them. The 100% maintenance rate is obviously tops in the NHL.

Last season, the Predators gave up two 3-goal leads – one in a November loss to Toronto and the other in an April loss to the Red Wings. However, during the season, the Predators had a league high 19 3-goal leads. In fact, the league average for 3-goal leads being surrendered was 10.34% and the Predators gave up almost exactly that with 10.53%.

In addition, if one calculates in this year’s seven 3-goal leads, the Predators have given up only 7.69% of their 3-goal leads in the past season-and-a-half, almost 3 percent better than the league average.

Spals to the Wall: The Nashville Predators are 12-0-1 all-time when Nick Spaling tallies a goal. Spaling extended the streak on Tuesday against the Avalanche.

Marty Party: The Predators are also 5-0-0 this season when Martin Erat scores a goal at Bridgestone Arena. Erat has 4 goals in his last 5 games against the Avalanche.

Forward Scoring Droughts: Jerred Smithson has not registered a goal in his last 37 games. Colin Wilson has not not scored in his last 9.  Mike Fisher has not scored a goal in his last 8. David Legwand has not scored in his last 7. Jordin Tootoo has not scored in his last 5. Brian McGrattan has not put a puck in the net in 26 games as a Predator and last scored 58 games ago while a member of the Calgary Flames.

Quick Notes: The Predators have won six straight against the Avalanche…Nashville will look to extend the Bridgestone Arena sellout streak to a franchise record 9 straight games…Ryan Ellis has put together back-to-back two point games.
