Kirk Muller Hired as Milwaukee’s Head Coach
It’s been an exciting week for the Barry Trotz Coaching Tree.
First, Lane Lambert was called up from Milwaukee to fill the spot on the bench recently vacated by Brent Peterson. Then, former Milwaukee Admirals head coach Claude Noel was named the first head coach of the new Winnipeg Jets.
Finally, today, the Predators hired “Captain Kirk” himself – Kirk Muller – to fill the spot vacated by Lambert in Milwaukee.
Muller, who won the Stanley Cup in 1993 with Montreal, played 1,349 NHL games for 6 different teams during his career. Most notably, he spent 4 seasons as captain of the New Jersey Devils and another season as captain of the Montreal Canadiens.
A hire like Muller is a win for the Predators. Muller is a well-known name who was a captain in the most traditional hockey market in the league. In addition, he’s been seen as an up-and-comer for the past few seasons. Getting a guy like Muller is a ringing endorsement for the direction in which the franchise is headed.
